TELUGU NEW YEAR
The new year for Telugu people is "Ugadi"
Ugadi
means Yuga Aadhi, beginning of a yugam or era.
The first day of their Lunar Calender.
A new life with blooming of fresh flowers, singing of birds
A special pachadi is prepared which contains,
neem flowers
jaggery,
raw mango
tamarind and chilli
Reason behind the pachadi is to have the power to face
and accept both happy and aspects of life
Jaggery denotes happiness
Tamarind denote the sourness
Elders in the family read the Panchangam and the rest
of the family listens
MAHARASTRA NEW YEAR
According to Maharastrians, it is called GUDI PADWA
They believe that it is the day on which UNIVERSE was
created by Lord Brahma.
It is the beginning of SATYUG
Lord Rama returned to Ayodhya after defeating Ravana
SINDHI NEW YEAR

indhis celebrate this day as the birthday of Jhulelal
Water is worshiped as the elixir of life
They feel it as a thanks giving day to God.
KANNADA NEW YEAR
Kannadigas celebrate the New year as similar to
Telugu community.
